16 of 15

Just kidding about posting more than 15 songs. Well not really. I had SO much fun finding a few favorite songs to post but you know what I realize? I can't stop. I literally want to post 250 of 15.  I think a few people actually listened and that makes me happy.  Maybe I will keep randomly posting songs here or there.

But! I had to add this one.  This has been a favorite of mine long before Howie Day became popular.  But this song has also always driven me nuts-I just can't interpret it. Can you help me?  I just cannot understand what the lyrics mean.  HELP!  Leave your best guess in the comments-even if it is an anonymous guess.

If you know it-give a shout out.  This song should remind a few of my readers about a group of special people they felt they once "knew".

Check out those LIGHTS in the video.

I'm still thinking about the cottage

I still tip my head when I think about the cottage.  I am still waiting for my big sis to share more and more and more pictures on her blog but life moves on and she has better things to show off-right?  So here are the last of my favorite shots from the week.

This is Andy, literally 2 hours in to the trip when everything was unpacked.

The minnow competition. (Team Sarah with the littles vs. Andy with the olders).

The crisp mornings and the cool nights.  The bug hunt. The pot luck. The dinner debate.

The splash of pink and yellow that miss syd brings to the trip.

The sounds I have memorized-the boat and dock creaking.  The sound of the cottage door opening and closing.  The laughter of my mom and dad chatting it up with some of their besties.
My sister announcing the number of minnows in her net.  The cars moving slow on the gravel driveway.

If you look closely-you'll see this is my DAD on vacation.  This same laugh every year!  (Please excuse the house in the background. The owners of the resort are in the process of building a big beautiful house in our spot on the lake.)

He, she, them asking who was going fishing and what they caught.

Who is going in to town? What are we playing?

So while this year has been and will be full of firsts for both of my boys, the cottage will hold steady.  We will continue to count down the days until we can get back to the place we count on.

An old favorite.  Thanks to GSB.

Newest Addition

So we have a new family member.

We went to the church festival as a family of 3 (+1 dog at home!).
We came home a family of 4 (+1 dog).

Here are the boys checking out Yoshi.

Sorry you can't really see him in his bowl (he's a fish).  He is the color of Hugh's shirt.  He is fast and wiggles like Eli.  He brought pure joy.  I never saw a fish-in-a-bag be held so tight, in a red cheeked boys hand, running to show his dad what he won.  I laughed out loud.

We finally can say our "Summer" is coming to a close. I always laughed when people would say "What are you doing this summer?".  Once I graduated college and started a full time job, I realized the concept of summer just meant the season of warm weather to me.  It didn't change my day to day full time job.  But now....big man Eli will be off to school in a week and I have been trying to fall asleep every night with so much emotion building.  Life will be different.  He will be growing and flying out there in the real world.

Welcome Yoshi.  I know Eli can't wait to share a cookie, a cup with milk and a chat with you when he comes home from his first day of school next week.  (Please make it that long!)

Splash Park with the Roeders

Do you wanna go to the splash park with the Roeders? The littles ran around and got sprinkled.

The older kids went on a turtle hunt.

So the adults set up chairs to watch the kids get wet.

Right?

Wrong

The adults. get. wet.

So try to accept it and just move on I guess.....

So now you know.  Don't bring a chair and a towel. Bring a bucket.

I think this one is verging on being overplayed and that makes me sad. Because I actually support the lyrics, the artist AND the video.  Watch and listen this time.

You wouldn't believe how un-brave I know that I am.  I'm sure there are many who feel that the words should just fall out-and they don't.  So cheers to any of you that are brave today!

Clarification on 6 of 15

I had 2 people comment on 6 of 15 as if they could view and hear the song. I got a text and comment that 2 others couldn't.

Yay! Some readers are actually listening and not just reading!
Here is a link to the video if you weren't able to see it in previous post.

Ignore the video.
Just listen while you're making dinner.  Or actually, play it any time of the day.

She is one of my favorites.  She's different.
I love "Samson" (check it out sometime).  It's mellow and RIGHT up my alley.

But I want to share this one, which you might recognize if you have watched any of the series "Orange is the New Black" which is not for the sensitive type. So Mom I don't think you'd like this show too much.

But give the song a chance.  All the way through.  It's different than most of the mellow stuff I've been posting.

I have no clue on this video.

Don't even watch it.

But at one time, my sister had to drop off her first born at day care and I'll never forget it.  If I remember correctly I think she was able to do it because of this song.

This song is a little cheesy.

But I love this artist.

And I love the lyrics.

And I love the memory of my first dance, in my white dress, with "my everything".

He's even more my everything now.

Happy Anniversary Andy. Annie. Drew. Drew-B.  Andy-man.

Hugh up North

I've been putting off this post because I knew it would be hard.  Even though I didn't get any really GOOD shots of Hugh, his little face is too cute not to just snap away.  He had a great week.  He kept Andy and I busy but probably a good 20% less than I thought.  He never fell off the dock. He took a few boat rides.
He had his own room (What luxury!) and slept pretty good-for Hughie.

I had so much anxiety this year and all due to this dude.  But we survived.  He survived and so did I.  He made himself right at home and I can't wait to see how different he will be next year.  I'm sure we'll STILL be scared he'll fall off the dock.

Music is one of the very few passions that I have.
It's not a specific passion-when it comes to tunes I am completely open and excited.
I don't like only one style.  Or one artist.

If anyone suggests a song I'm right on it.
When I hear of a new artist, I listen.  No matter the genre.

If someone blogs a music video-I listen. Usually more than once.
And then I love it.

So I'm gonna share my love of music with y'all.
Don't judge. That's not fair.
Don't even listen if you're going to judge.
Listen if you want and if you have time.  And maybe you'll fall in love. Or just like. Or just whatever.

When you are listening remember
-it may be only about the beat
-it's probably not about the video
-it may be the band that I love
-it might be the lyrics
-it might not make any sense
-you might hate it
-perhaps it brings back a memory for me, a good one, or an emotional one, and only now I am mature enough to re-feel that.
-maybe one or 2 of these songs will hit you on your way to work, with your cup of coffee, or water or hot tea or whatever your morning beverage is-or maybe you don't even leave for work, maybe you gear up for a day at home with the littles, or a day off from work where you have a long to-do list.  Maybe you listen on your lunch break after an awful morning. Or maybe you need to relax before your head hits the pillow.  Or maybe your stirring some homemade soup on the stove. Or enjoying a glass of wine on your deck. Or driving in the car for hours to visit a friend.

If nobody listens-I will never know.  If I get one comment about one song--I'll have surpassed my goal.
Just listen. Don't judge. Don't expect.
I dare ya.  Do it now!

Eli up north

There is just too much to show and say and look at and think about when it comes to the cottage week. So I'm gonna continue with the theme of a tribute (see previous post of my sister) to show and remember.

So tonight I'm gonna start with Eli.  He had a great week.
Here it is in pictures.

This picture is significant because this is Eli's first sip of soda. He said it was spicy and didn't finish it.  But he smiled big.

Just a few days ago Eli said "I wish we were on the boat".  I said "yes, the cottage is my favorite place" and Eli said "mine too".  Stay tuned....
