A week

I did it.

Set the goal-check.
Complete the goal-check.

I'm proud of myself.  I guess I still can accomplish things, like blogging every day for a week.

I'm sad that the weekend is over, like so sad I threw a fit today.  My poor family. They took the brunt of it.  I hope they understand that I threw the fit out of love. I'm just so disappointed that tomorrow is Monday and we are all split up again.  So it wasn't really a fit but it was one of those times where I felt like I didn't want to do anything and everyone was still going full throttle.

Maybe I'm just tired.  I should be so excited because the sun was out and we had a really fun filled day with some great friends.  Monday's aren't so bad are they?  We are lucky to have a fresh start.  Another week in our short life.  We are healthy.  We are dry under our little roof.  And I will get through tomorrow and sit down to have dinner with my boys in no time at all.    And there is beauty in the world.  And it's all around us.  Close enough to touch and take pictures of.

I could say more but I won't.  I'm going to shut off the computer and enjoy the last few hours of the weekend.  But I'll leave you with a few of my favorite shots from our outing to the beach.

Sweet

The boys enjoyed a sweet treat today.  He doesn't take after me in very many ways but Eli did pick out the donut that I would have chosen.  But then when we got it to the table he said "I want the whole donut" and I said "You may have the whole donut" and he said "No there is no hole in my donut". Awww there were just too many to choose from.

Maybe you noticed he brought his friend Yoshi along.  He didn't share with Yoshi.

Yes Hughie got in on that action too. And don't you worry, the dietitian mom didn't make him eat just oranges (as in the above picture). He got a few bites of Andy's apple fritter.

Contest: Who can bring me a white long john donut that is gluten free and tastes like the real thing??-I'll give the winner a box of donuts or bagels of their choice.  Good luck.

Friday Rambles

We made it to Friday!   And today the weather cooperated so the boys could get outside and get their wiggles out.

We live across the street from a middle school, which is where the high school girls soccer teams play.  Tonight we walked around the  track while the game was going on.  I felt something I hadn't felt in a long time.  I played soccer for half my life and when I watched those girls on the field I could almost taste the passion that goes on with this sport.   I hope SOMEONE in my life plays soccer. I want to be a parent on the sideline. Or even just a friend of a parent--even if one of the boys friends plays I'll have an excuse to watch and cheer.   It was no wonder I could eat anything I wanted in high school and college.  2 hours everyday of this really intense sport must have burned a bucket load.  I don't think I could move my body in that way anymore.

Eli has somewhat of an unhealthy obsession with Super Mario Bros.  Shouldn't he be in to balls, or cars or still thinking about trains? Not this kid.  Today he received a package from his godmother that contained a bunch of "guys" from Super Mario Bros.  He played with them all day and even more-he talked about them.  We had to facetime Aunt Sarah to tell her thank you and I wonder what she thought of the conversation they he had.    When he is talking about Mario he doesn't really let anyone get a word in edgewise.  He even had to stop and show a spectator at the soccer game the Yoshi he had in his pocket.

We've been having some changes with our daycare that forced Andy to stay home one day this week.  This is what the house looked like when I came home:

Pajamas, shoes, blankets, a diet coke box and tons of litle, tiny toys.  I smiled hoping that they had a good day.  But now to make up the work Andy will work part of the day tomorrow. I plan to bring the boys out for a donut and let Eli pick one from the bakery case.  Even though I won't be able to eat it, I know it will be such a special outing for my boys and me.

Who watches Grey's Anatomy?  When I run on the treadmill I watch old seasons and am catching up.  I laughed out loud at the episode where they take the verbal boards.  Anyone remember that?

I'm ready for the spring. Sunshine. Open windows. Open screen door.  Grilling out. Sitting on the deck.  Getting a little pink cheeks from the sunshine.  I can feel it is on the way.  Hugh is just getting used to wearing shoes.  And eh most certainly doesn't understand that he can walk outside.  Here he is trying to be really brave getting out the door.

I'm hoping in 1-2 more months Hugh will stop trying to eat EVERY thing that isn't strongly attached to the ground.

Even this one enjoyed the sunshine....

Because I despise washing the bottles, I leave them until the counter looks like this:
Dread.

Random:
-Eli talks a lot.
-I'm glad my sister got her nachos this week
-Bailee snores loudly. I despise snoring.  This is something I am very passionate about.
-Sometimes I feel overwhelmed with all that is going to happen in the next week. All I want is to hide in a dark closet until time slows down.  I want to look at the calendar and realize that we have nothing planned for a whole month. That won't happen.
-Hughie furrows his brow all day long.  There will be permanent lines there soon.
-I still like to tell Andy that I don't really have Celiac Disease.  When I tell him I watch his face and hope he responds with "yeah I don't think you do either".  But then I have nights like last night and I realize that it's probably true.  I still struggle with it and hope that some day I will find acceptance for the cards I've been dealt. They aren't that bad.
-I blogged a lot this week. It wasn't that hard. I don't know why I go for a week at a time without speaking to you guys.

But it's the weekend. So here we go, a little donut shop, more Mario "guys", a birthday party, a glass of wine, a nap and?  What are you up to this weekend?

A date with Eli

Thanks to a special Aunt and cousin for watching Hughie (I know this was months ago) so we could have a special outing with just Mr. Elijah.  He was in heaven and I don't think he even knew why.  We really tried to let him run the show...as you'll see in the pictures below-he ran ahead and led the way most of the time.  Being the oldest has a lot of perks, but slowing down due to younger siblings can't always be one of them.  This was a day where we went at Eli's speed.

A gift

A gift to Andy and I.

An even bigger gift to each other.

We are seeing the boys become more and more interested in each other.  And we are loving it.
